FOR PATIENTS

It’s troubling to think that 70% of adults (over 25) suffer from gum disease, when its symptoms can be truly miserable for the patient; tender and bleeding gums, sensitive teeth, and sometimes persistent bad breath are just a few of the calling cards of this widespread complaint.

You can take some comfort knowing that you’re not alone, and even with regular brushing and flossing, it’s the harder-to-reach areas that require attention.

Perioban has been developed to reverse the bodies aggressive response to ‘bad bacteria’ and works in three ways:

  1. The solution physically ‘flushes out’ the dental pocket.
  2. The ‘surfactant’ dissolved the sticky film the bad bacteria adhere to – called the Biofilm.
  3. The Postbiotics work to help switch off the body’s own self-destruct mechanism – the main cause of tissue breakdown.

At around £2 / application, Perioban is the equivalent price of half a hygienist appointment – with benefits last much longer.

Periodontal disease can never be fixed by a visit to the dentist. Periodontal disease can only be arrested and maintained at home by a diligent approach to oral care. (Dr Julian Perry BDS MFGDP.RCS DipImpDent.RCS (Eng))

HOW TO SPOT THE SIGNS OF GUM DISEASE

01

Healthy gums are light pink in colour / firm – this is ideally the colour and condition we want everyone’s gums to remain in. Perioban helps to prevent gum disease before the next steps even begin to appear.

02

The initial stages of gum disease may be very subtle varying from gums that are slightly tender the touch, to receding and red in colour.

03

More severe cases of Periodontal disease will have red inflamed gums that are likely to bleed easily.

Popular FAQs

What is Gum Disease?

Gingivitis is the inflammation and bleeding caused by bacteria and food accumulating around the teeth due to inadequate home dental cleaning. Gingivitis, with good home care is reversible.

Periodontal disease is inflammation and bleeding under the gums in “pockets” caused by long term poor dental hygiene (in most cases). Periodontal disease can never be reversed. Flossing and brushing does not get “under the gums” and therefore does not halt periodontal disease. Perioban is the first postbiotic solution designed to actively remove bacteria and reduce inflammation in the pockets.

What are the symptoms of gum disease?
  • Bleeding gums (blood in the sink after brushing)
  • Bad taste
  • Metallic taste
  • Bad breath (halitosis)
  • Mobile teeth
  • Infection (abscess)
How is gum disease treated?

Conventional treatment will include visiting the dental hygienist so that the teeth and the pockets can be cleaned. Sometimes the hygienist or dentist will insert an antibiotic gel into the pocket. This helps but the “pockets” are only clean immediately after the cleaning and for a few more days after which, because there is a “pocket” present, the pocket fills back up with bacteria and debris, and so the cycle of inflammation re-starts. This is why cleaning must be achieved under the gum at home.

What happens if gum disease is not treated?

Bad breath, loose teeth, painful teeth, removal of painful teeth. It takes years for this to happen but once you get there, nothing will help. Teeth cannot “magically” be made better or re-fixed. The harm has been done and the end result is loss of the teeth.
