03 / Water

Pour the measured Perioban Active into the water reservoir of your oral irrigator and fill the rest of the reservoir with lukewarm water (1:25 dilution). In the case of the WaterPik™ just fill the reservoir to the top.

HOW TO USE PERIOBAN

Take the Perioban Active bottle out of its packaging and measure 10ml of Perioban Active using the provided measuring tool. If your oral irrigator (also known as jet flosser) has a 250ml reservoir (i.e. the vessel where the water is poured), 10ml is the right amount. You will just need to adjust the amount if your reservoir is a different size, i.e. 8ml in a 200ml reservoir.

Pour the measured Perioban Active into the reservoir (again, the same place that you fill it with water) of your oral irrigator and fill the rest up with warm water until it reaches the top.

Hold the irrigator (or flosser) so that the tip is placed between your teeth, in the spaces known as embrasure spaces. You will want to angle the tip slightly upward for the upper jaw and slightly downward for the lower jaw.

Turn on the oral irrigator. Jet between the teeth as instructed, jetting only for a second between the teeth. Even the smallest of solution works properly, so one measure will be adequate for your whole mouth. If you have a continuous irrigator, move around your mouth, allowing for two pulses of fluid between each set of teeth. If your irrigator can be easily turned on and off, jet between your teeth for two pulses, turn off the irrigator, move to the next space, turn on the irrigator again and repeat this process around your entire mouth.

Popular FAQs

What is Gum Disease?

Gingivitis is the inflammation and bleeding caused by bacteria and food accumulating around the teeth due to inadequate home dental cleaning. Gingivitis, with good home care is reversible.

Periodontal disease is inflammation and bleeding under the gums in “pockets” caused by long term poor dental hygiene (in most cases). Periodontal disease can never be reversed. Flossing and brushing does not get “under the gums” and therefore does not halt periodontal disease. Perioban is the first postbiotic solution designed to actively remove bacteria and reduce inflammation in the pockets.

What are the symptoms of gum disease?
  • Bleeding gums (blood in the sink after brushing)
  • Bad taste
  • Metallic taste
  • Bad breath (halitosis)
  • Mobile teeth
  • Infection (abscess)
How is gum disease treated?

Conventional treatment will include visiting the dental hygienist so that the teeth and the pockets can be cleaned. Sometimes the hygienist or dentist will insert an antibiotic gel into the pocket. This helps but the “pockets” are only clean immediately after the cleaning and for a few more days after which, because there is a “pocket” present, the pocket fills back up with bacteria and debris, and so the cycle of inflammation re-starts. This is why cleaning must be achieved under the gum at home.

What happens if gum disease is not treated?

Bad breath, loose teeth, painful teeth, removal of painful teeth. It takes years for this to happen but once you get there, nothing will help. Teeth cannot “magically” be made better or re-fixed. The harm has been done and the end result is loss of the teeth.
